Description

Take to the water on the Schooner "America 2.0", named for the first boat to win the America's Cup in 1851. This stunning 105-foot boat features teak decks, mahogany trimmings and ample seating. Her 3,600 square feet of sail will propel you smoothly through the waters.

The past meets the future aboard Schooner "America 2.0". She is modeled after one of the most famous maritime icons of all time, the winner of the first “America's Cup" of 1851, Schooner America. The “2.0" aspect of the vessel refers to the eco-friendly nature of both her cutting-edge construction materials and her propulsion system
created by the designers at Scarano Boat Building, of Albany, New York. Rather than finding a diesel-consuming engine room below decks, you find a large battery bank providing electric propulsion with smaller diesel assist-generators. If you peeled away her hull, rather than finding heavy fiberglass or steel, you'd find an extremely durable 3-layered composite: a sandwich of cedar over balsa core, laminated with an epoxy resin. Split on a horizontal plane, this light 3-layer composite makes up the upper 70% of the hull while the lower 30% is constructed of marine-grade aluminum. Furthermore, rather than a heavy wooden rig aloft, you find carbon-fiber masts, booms and gaffs. Together, these strengthening and lightening components of construction, coupled with her modernized power-sourcing, America 2.0 is provided with the ability to move through the water more effortlessly, efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.

Daily sails are approximately 90 minutes, evening sails are approximately 2 hours. Boarding begins 15 minutes prior to departure. $60/75 per person (ages 5+ only) plus service fee.

Boarding is on a first come, first serve basis - All Sailings Provided Conditions Warrant
No outside food or beverage allowed. No weapons allowed on festival property. Smoking not permitted.
All persons and personal effects are subject to screening or inspection. Failure to consent or submit to screening or inspection will result in denial of authorization to board the boat in accordance with United Stated Coast Guard regulations.

Due to the nature of this public event, by purchasing a ticket you agree to be photographed and/or
videoed, and allow your photo/video to be used for any and all marketing and advertising.

Tall Ships Charleston acts solely as an agent for the respective suppliers and shall not be responsible for any
loss, damage to property, death or injury resulting from an act of any supplier or any other person. Tall Ships Charleston may refuse you carriage or remove you from the vessel without refund or compensation if it determines that you present a safety risk to yourself, other passengers, or to the vessel. Additionally, if your behavior causes or may cause discomfort, inconvenience or annoyance to passengers or crew members or interferes with the safe and orderly operation of the vessel, you will be denied boarding or removed from the vessel without refund or compensation.
